Intelligent high-level input
Modern, factory-installed car radios are becoming increasingly intelligent when it comes to diagnosing the connected speakers. If an amplifier is connected to the radio instead, there are usually error messages or even the loss of individual functions (such as faders). The new ADEP circuit (Advanced Diagnostics Error Protection) prevents all of these problems without unnecessarily loading the radio's speaker outputs at high levels.

Two performance options
The M 5DSP has two performance modes, the “HighPower” mode for maximum performance and the “MidPower” mode with reduced output power and lower power consumption for plug & play applications.

Automatic Digital Signal Detection
The switching between the analog and digital input is signal-controlled. As soon as an audio signal is detected at the optical input, the amplifier switches to this input. This function can be deactivated in the DSP PC-Tool software or alternatively manual control can be selected using an optionally available remote control.

Power save mode
The Power Save mode is activated in the basic settings of the DSP PC-Tool software. It allows the power consumption of the M 5DSP (and any additionally connected amplifiers) to be drastically reduced if there is no input signal for longer than 60 seconds. It should be taken into account that many vehicles today are equipped with “CAN” or similar internal bus systems that leave the radio on “invisibly” for the user for up to 45 minutes, even if the vehicle has been left and locked in the meantime. As soon as the “Power Save Mode” is active, the internal amplifier stages of the M 5DSP and the remote output are switched off, thereby reducing the current consumption to less than 250 mA. The amplifier goes off within 2 seconds. returns to normal operating status as soon as a music signal is present at its input. It is also possible to vary the switch-off delay or to completely deactivate the “Power Save Mode” using the DSP PC tool software.
